Bankruptcy
Predators Lurking in Bankruptcy System

David Hallum filed a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy to get a fresh start. His relief was short-lived because a predator had its sights on Hallum's property.

Al Seastrand of Sacramento, had acquired the voided note against Hallum's property. Seastrand, a lawyer and real estate broker, would know the note was not legally enforceable.

But that did not stop Seastrand, who filed a motion to reopen Hallum's bankruptcy.

Hallum's pleas for justice fell on deaf ears and he was forced to incur a massive debt in legal fees to stop Seastrand, a self proclaimed real estate pirate who says there are no victims, just opportunities.

Seastrand's M.O. had been used on other people. See how Seastrand pulled off this type scheme on a woman, using the bankruptcy system.

What Seastrand does is use his own foreclosure company, which he has his wife Loretta Seastrand acting as the front person. By owning and operating his own foreclosure company he can ignore the law, as he did with the woman above.

Hallum's attorney was able to show the court Seastrand's and his attorney, Matthew Eason's attempt to extort money, and many instances of deceit and violations. The issued a contempt order.

But to Hallum and his attorney's shock, the judge voided the contempt order after Seastrand and Eason convinced the judge, "it was an innocent mistake."

See the Contempt of Court page for the known cases where these two have gotten off with the "It was an innocent mistake" defense.
