Rule 9 states that certain special matters need special pleading (complaints as well as answers) as in pleading with particularity.

What are those exceptions?

Here's a list:

2. The circumstances giving rise to any allegation of fraud or mistake.

3. Any denial or performance or occurrence of a condition precedent.

4. The existence of judgments or official documents on which the pleader plans to rely.

5. Material facts of time and place.

6. Special damages.

7. Certain aspects of admiralty and maritime jurisdiction.
